For me, it's not just about prestige, but also about making a contribution. Of course, even after you get published, it's not clear that you actually have made a contribution; you have to wait and see if other people take up your ideas and do something with them.

Do they pay you for publishing those articles? I thought it was just prestige in getting published! Getting paid is makes it even sweeter!
